Description
Catasetum pileatum is an epiphytic species, native to Venezuela (where it was the national flower until 1921!), Peru and Colombia. It grows in forests between sea level and 200 meters above sea level with a long dry period and a short wet period.
This is the alba form, devoid of pigment.
Deciduous plant, requires rest (reduction in watering as soon as the leaves are lost, gradual resumption when new shoots appear, then gradual resumption of fertilizer applications when new roots start.)
